Backed by 15+ years in Texas government, Aldredge brings legislative strategy, policy expertise, and relationship-driven advocacy to clients.

AUSTIN, TX, UNITED STATES, September 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Longtime Capitol staffer Katy Aldredge announces the launch of Em Dash Strategies LLC, an Austin-based lobbying firm serving businesses and organizations before the Texas Legislature and state government. Known for her ability to build consensus among stakeholders, cultivate relationships across the Capitol, and navigate the state budget process, Aldredge brings a practical understanding of how policy moves from an idea to a successful outcome.

Aldredge, who will serve as the firm’s Principal, brings more than 15 years of experience in Texas government. Most recently, she served as Chief of Staff to State Representative Giovanni Capriglione and Director for the House Committee on Delivery of Government Efficiency, which focused on policy matters including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, IT modernization, quantum computing, digital assets, regulatory reform, and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse. Her career has also included serving as Director of the House Appropriations Committee, Director of the House Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee, and time in former Governor Rick Perry’s administration.

“I’ve spent my career navigating complex issues, bringing the right voices to the table, and turning important ideas into meaningful policy,” Aldredge said. “Em Dash Strategies is the culmination of that experience and an opportunity to put it to work for clients, combining a deep understanding of Texas government with thoughtful strategy, substantive policy expertise, and a relentless pursuit for success.”

Aldredge built a reputation at the Capitol for tackling complex, highly technical legislation and doing the work necessary to move it from concept to passage. She guided teams through dense policy questions, complex stakeholder negotiations, agency and legislative leadership concerns, and assisted members and staff with policy discussions. She also played a key role in the Innovation & Technology Caucus, creating opportunities for legislators and staff to engage with subject matter experts and better understand rapidly evolving technology issues. In her final legislative session, Aldredge led the team behind the Texas House member who passed more bills than any other member, an accomplishment that reflects not only strong relationships, but a command of the policy, process, and strategy required to turn complicated proposals into law.

The name Em Dash Strategies nods to the punctuation mark and what it does—connect ideas.

“The em dash has always been about connection. It brings together ideas that are distinct but stronger when connected, and that is exactly what effective advocacy does,” said Aldredge. “The best public policy is rarely created by one person or one perspective. It comes from connecting people, ideas, expertise, and interests to find common ground and move good ideas forward—that is what I have spent my career doing.”

Em Dash Strategies will represent clients across industries and policy areas, providing legislative advocacy, policy development, executive branch engagement, appropriations strategy, regulatory advocacy, coalition building, and stakeholder engagement with policy experience in technology, artificial intelligence, data centers, cybersecurity, data privacy, financial services, appropriations, government efficiency, regulatory reform, and open government.

During her Capitol career, Aldredge passed more than 150 legislative measures, developing policy recommendations and navigating committee hearings and floor strategy. She also served as an expert committee director with knowledge of intricate legislative rules with no sustained points of order on committee procedures.

For Aldredge, opening the firm continues a tradition that has been part of her life since childhood. An Austin native, she grew up around Texas politics and public policy before building her career inside the Capitol. She learned the process from the inside, and, just as importantly, the value of the relationships that drive it.

“Government affairs is ultimately a relationship business, but relationships alone are not enough,” Aldredge said. “Growing up around the Capitol and then spending my career inside it taught me that the best advocates understand the issue, know how the process works, anticipate challenges, and earn the trust of the people involved. Em Dash Strategies was created to bring all of that together and give clients thoughtful, hands-on representation focused on getting results.”
