KBF Design Gallery Wins Home Renovation Award for Winter Park Project

Maitland design-to-build firm honored nationally for “A Childhood Home, Reimagined,” a Winter Park whole-home renovation in the Whole House category.

MAITLAND, FL, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — KBF Design Gallery, the Maitland-based design-to-build remodeling firm, has been named a Silver winner in the 48th annual Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards. The award recognizes the firm’s Winter Park whole-home renovation, entered as “A Childhood Home, Reimagined,” in the Whole House $500,000-$1,000,000 category.

Sponsored by Qualified Remodeler magazine, the Master Design Awards is the premier national contest recognizing outstanding achievement in residential remodeling across 22 categories. Entries from remodeling firms across the country are judged on aesthetic appeal, construction techniques, handling of unusual situations, attention to detail, functionality of space and overall impression. The judges awarded the KBF project a perfect score for aesthetic appeal and a perfect score for construction and installation, and described it as “a beautiful project, well built” and a “stunning redesign, light and bright.”

A Childhood Home, Reimagined

The winning project was the homeowner’s childhood home. She returned to the Winter Park property as an adult with two goals that could have pulled against each other: preserve everything the house had meant to her family, and transform how it functions for the next chapter of life.

KBF reconfigured the original entry, dining room, living room and kitchen, which had functioned as four separate rooms, into a single light-filled great room anchored by a long white oak island. A spare bedroom was converted into a spa-like primary bathroom with a private entry from the primary bedroom, and the original primary bathroom was reimagined as a spacious walk-in closet, giving the home a true en-suite for the first time. A new covered and screened lanai extended the living space outdoors, and new windows, doors and a garage door refreshed the exterior. KBF’s in-house interior design team furnished the completed home.

Behind the walls, the project also replaced the home’s corroded cast iron sewer lines beneath the slab and installed a complete new HVAC system with all-new ductwork, work that speaks directly to the awards’ “handling of unusual situations” criterion.

“This award is so special to us because of what the house meant to the family who lives in it,” said Ashley Sheaffer, Co-Principal of KBF Design Gallery. “Our client had to trust us with the home she grew up in before she could picture what it would become. Being recognized by a national jury for that project is a credit to her trust and to every member of our design and construction team.”
